Cancel Culture

It's now a new term to hear "cancel culture". In the Local Churches, we had our own version of cancel culture beginning maybe in the late 80's if not earlier.
First version of the Recovery New Testament version was attributed to the work of Bill Duane, Albert Knoch, and John Ingalls. A few years later cancel culture of the LC variety came in and with a 2nd edition, they were edited out.
Same was applied to versions of other ministry publications. Prefaces that may have contained a word from John Ingalls, following reprints replaced John's name with Benson or someone of his ilk that was still obedient to the movement. That's the cancel culture. Revision of history.

Re: Cancel Culture

After learning about so many inconsistencies, errors, and outright deceptions in the historical records presented to us by Witness Lee over the decades, I no longer believe a single thing he ever said about church history or local church history. The Recovery attempts to cancel culture on past members, but now cancel culture also works in reverse.

Quite often propaganda is used as a substitute for the truth. It takes time, but eventually the truth proves propaganda a lie. That holds true then as it does in present time.

Re: Cancel Culture

There is what I think we can call some of this cancel culture in some of the Q&A videos (called Q&R by the LC) posted to youtube of co-workers answering.....sorry....."responding".....to questions submitted by saints/young people.

One question was about how marriage is portrayed as a prison in the LC, and one co-worker's response was "this just shows how delusional some young brothers can be". Yes, it certainly is delusional to read and comprehend the plain printed words of Nee and Lee who call marriage a prison to break you. But the co-workers act like it isn't written and spoken in just that way. :scratchhead:

Slightly different "cancel culture" than you initially posited, but I think it falls under the umbrella. What is spoken attempts to cancel what is written. And with DCP, the most recent written output attempts to cancel the previous written, but yet curiously not unretracted, output.

Yes and if one resists and point out what the original message was, then you are simply "using the ministry to attack the ministry".
Don't point it out. Just be positive and move on is the expectation. That is how it is.
