Re: We should do something

Hmm....I haven't read Duddy's book, so I don't know the approach he took. No "look inside" options on Amazon either! As far as real people and real experiences, what you are describing sounds a...

Re: Thoughts On The Libel Suit?

Holy smokes everyone.

ExChurchKid has been pretty clear about where she is right now related to God. Let her be there.

If she wants to ask questions about God, she can do so, just like I did...

Re: We should do something

I'm glad you feel validated. You're feelings are, as I said, very normal.

Since there are some misunderstandings on the forum at the moment, let me say this up front here before I ask my next...

Re: We should do something

Hey ExChurchKid,

Yeah, makes total sense, and I understand. Thanks for sharing and explaining. Your thoughts are very normal given what you've grown up in and been through. I was right...

Re: Thoughts on the libel suit?

I daresay that the reason the Lord lead you out in the 1980s (in other words, what He was saving you from experiencing) is probably the very reason the church kids who were born then and/or grew up...

Re: POLL: What is the Greatest Error of WL & LC?

How else would they fulfill Witness Lee's teaching that each local church be identical in color and outward appearance? The requisite chairs' quiet golden glow in every meeting hall must do the...

Re: Shepherding Words "From The Co-Workers In The Lord's Recovery"

Co-workers: "we should not restrict how God communicates to man."

Also co-workers: "we must be restricted in one publication. Witness Lee only. All others are poison."

Re: Politics and the Church

On one hand it helps me because I'm forced to look to see if my viewpoint still holds up under contention, but on the other hand, it gets pretty wearing to repeatedly encounter what seems like...

Re: Politics and the Church

I don't read those verses that way at all. You think there are genuine, regenerated believers in Christ, who have the life of Christ in them, who are still....

...continuing in sexual immorality,...

Re: Politics and the Church

The scribes in Mark 2 weren't demanding repentance. They were affronted because they said "only God can forgive sins", and by Jesus proclaiming that the paralytic's sins were forgiven, in their eyes...

Re: We should do something

ExChurchKid, would you be willing to say more about your experience here? i.e. what is your view of God, how did you arrive at that conclusion, etc?

I'm asking because as a church kid who was...

Re: Thoughts on the libel suit?

ExChurchKid, when you say "why not include that in the libel suit", did you mean "why did the sued party (SCP, Duddy) not bring up the deprogramming attempts in order to show that the local churches...

This isn't my full response but is just what I have time to squeeze out regarding the verse references at the end of your post.

Re: Politics and the Church

I don't disagree, but how do we square that with 1 John 3?

In this particular instance, his actions combined with his lack of real repentance is what is leading me to conclude he's not a genuine...

Re: Politics and the Church

I'm sorry to hear of the truth of the example. I can't even imagine. The only point I disagreed with concerning the truth of it was that the rapist could be a genuine Christian, which I don't...

Re: Does anyone see a problem with this teaching?

Nope, I don't see A problem.

I see A WHOOOOOOLE LOT OF PROBLEMS.

Problem #1: After his floodly duties are over, Noah is nowhere established as a leader of or over anyone, or representing God...

Re: Politics and the Church

Well, I'm neither with the RCC nor with the LC, so "cultist" doesn't make any sense when directed at me.

Regarding the situation you described, my first reaction is that I'm not sure how realistic...
