I begin my class every year with an ice breaker, two truths and a lie.

My students have no trouble believing the following (all of which are true):

1. One of my classmates in High school was the son of the bass player for the Rolling stones.

2. One of my classmates in High school was heir to the throne of England

3. The most famous person from my High school was a high school dropout.

4. The most famous person from my university was a university drop out.

5. At 12 years old my dad was rescuing sailors from the Arizona at Pearl Harbor.

But here is the one that they just cannot believe

6. My Uncle's house was bombed by the KKK in Jackson Ms.

(They are like -- wait, was he white?).
