When their kids get killed it barely registers in the local news, but when kids in the suburbs are killed it is national news for a month.

That said I still took your comment seriously. I agree that if there was a shooter down on the 2nd floor right now with and AR15 I would feel better having a handgun in my class. However, for the last 15 years, 180 days a year, I would have felt much worse having a handgun in the class. To me the potential for catastrophe is just that much greater.

However, suppose we did have a highly trained professional (ex Seal, Green Beret, etc) on our staff. If that teacher/staff member wanted to conceal carry I have no issue with that. However, I think the numbers are far less than the 20% that is being bandied about. If the number is 0.1% I would be surprised. From my own experience I would guess it is going to be significantly less, 0.01% or less. Perhaps Texas and rural areas have a higher percent, don't know. I am just speaking for what I have seen first hand. High school is just not a suitable environment for rambo or a former rambo to work.

Our school does have a metal detector, alarms on every door, strict protocols in place and about 5 police on duty. These police are not the ones you would expect to be played by Denzel or the Rock. Rather Melissa McCarthy, Monique, etc.
Obviously Trump was gathering info and suggesting ideas. He was not legislating. It's impossible, however, to have one solution for every school. His idea about armed teachers at your school make no sense. You already have many security measures in place. This underscores my complaints about national policy -- education, security, etc. are far better served on the local and state level, except for perhaps in Broward County due to Obama era policies like PROMISE.

Perhaps you too are a little disturbed about biased news coverage? Consider for example, if it were not for FNC, we would never know about or why we have such horrendous murder rates in Chicago. I find the media totally disingenuous attacking Trump for policies designed to reduce crime and protect our children, i.e. building a wall to stop drugs ad illegals, etc. and then they endorse sanctuary cities.
