I've heard Ephesians 6:12 shared most of my life, growing up. Over time, Witness Lee did not have much to say about this warning in Ephesians since his "ministry" took another direction. When you hear something over and over for a long time, as we have, without obvious fulfillment, the tendency is that the message will lose relevancy. End Times Prophecy has been ignored, largely because of the lack of current day fulfillment. Big mistake.
It's time to wake up and pay attention to the warnings throughout scripture. Here's another big one we saw earlier. Daniel 12:4, which says, “Many will go here and there to increase knowledge,”. This seems to be just an offhand comment without much relevance. What's wrong with knowledge? Anything? Knowledge is good, right? Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. This verse makes the case for "spiritual warfare". The comment by Daniel may take on a new significance. The rise of knowledge seems to be an object of worship by men today. Ephesians makes it clear that the fight is not against mankind (flesh and blood) but the spiritual world. We know that there are two spirits. The Holy Spirit and ... the other one. Has Daniel 12:4 and Ephesians 6:12 taken on a new significance? It would seem so--IMHO. Here's another opinion of mine about the "other" spirit, based on these verses in Genesis 3. 14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because you have done this, you are cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon your belly shalt you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life: 15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. The serpent was cursed to eat dust all its life, AND the seed of woman (Jesus Christ) will bring about its end. So the woman was blessed and the serpent was cursed. The serpent instigated the death of Jesus on the cross (bruise his heel) and he (Jesus) will bruise your head...eventually cast the serpent into the lake of fire as described in the book of Revelation in chapter 20. Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. "The devil that deceived them" in Revelation 20 is surely a direct reference to Genesis 3. It would seem that this curse on the serpent could be the origin of the hate for the woman and all of mankind, carried out by more deception, the increasing knowledge of man and the spiritual wickedness in high places. This is what I think. It makes sense to me, but I could be wrong. Nell |
