There is a documented history of financial malfeasance going back to the 1950s in Taiwan and Southeast Asia, long before Witness, Timothy and Phillip Lee absconded to our fair American shores. And if we take Dr. Lily Hsu's testimony into account - My Unforgettable Memories: Watchman Nee and Shanghai Local Church- we can see that the roots of this kind of deception and financial malfeasance go back to the very beginnings of the movement in Mainland China.
